Johansson Named to W-League Team of the Week

NEWBURGH, NY – Hudson Valley Quickstrike Lady Blues forward Angelika Johansson has been named to the W-League Team of the Week for her efforts in last week’s two road wins over Long Island and Connecticut.

Johansson had a goal in the Hudson Valley’s 4-2 comeback over Long Island on Wednesday, July 8, and notched four assists in a 5-0 win over Connecticut on Sunday.

This is the fourth time this season that Johansson has been named to the W-League Team of the Week, including being named Player of the Week on June 10 for assisting on Whitney Palmer’s game-tying goal and scoring the game-winning goal in a 2-1 win over Boston on June 6.

Currently, Johansson leads the league in points (31) and is tied for the league lead in goals (12) with less than a week left in W-League regular season play.

The Lady Blues return home tonight, Wednesday, July 15 at 7:30 p.m. against the New Jersey Wildcats for their final regular season home game. Then, the Hudson Valley ends the regular season at Washington on Thursday and at New York on Sunday.
